The performative photographic work MISSING negotiates the politics of visibility and memory through the processes of development in photography. If photography is the preservation of memory, the capturing of life, the question arises what happens to memory when the images no longer exist. In Austria in the 20th century, countless people disappeared from the collective memory together with their stories, because the memory of them was never fixed.
MISSING will allow the audience to experience this fluid, elusive transition from coming into being, to being, to being forgotten.
